Privacy policy
Spoiler-Free Football for DAZN, a Chrome extension · last updated 18 September 2026
The extension works in your browser. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it sells or shares nothing. The only things that leave your browser are the requests described below, which are needed for its features, and a feedback message if you choose to send one.

What stays in your browser
These are kept by Chrome on your computer and are never sent anywhere:
- your settings, and whether the extension is switched on
- where you are in each DAZN video, so you can pick up where you left off (kept for 60 days). This one is kept in the DAZN site's own storage in your browser, next to the video.
- for each game, whether you had the spoiler cover shown and which broadcaster you picked
- which ratings and results you chose to reveal on the ratings page
- your list of blocked sites
- the language you picked, and your DAZN market (for example
en-DE), taken from DAZN's addresses - a copy of the schedule and ratings, for when the server can't be reached
Settings you change on the settings page are synced to your other computers by Chrome if you have Chrome Sync switched on.
What the extension asks its server
The schedule, the ratings, the links to games on DAZN and the broadcaster of a game come from
the extension's own server, spoiler-free-nfl-data.vercel.app, which gets them from
ESPN and DAZN. For that the extension sends:
- for the schedule and ratings: which gameday you are looking at
- for a link to a game on DAZN: which game, and your DAZN market
- on a DAZN game page: DAZN's id for that game, and your DAZN market, to find out which TV network the broadcast is from
None of this identifies you. Like any server, it receives your IP address with each request, in order to answer it; the extension's code does not store it. Vercel, which hosts the server, may keep standard technical logs for a short time.
Feedback you send
If you send a bug report, an idea or a note from the Feedback page, the server stores:
- what you wrote, and what kind of message it is
- your favourite team, if you picked one
- your email address, if you gave one, only so I can reply
- for a bug report, if you leave it switched on: the extension's version, your browser and system, language, time zone, DAZN market, the extension's settings, and where the problem happened. The page lists exactly these before you send.
- not your IP address, only a one-way scrambled version of it (a salted hash), used to limit how many messages one sender can send
Messages are kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically. A copy is emailed to me through my own mail server so that I see it. Nobody else reads or receives them.
Blocked sites
When you add a site to your blocked sites, Chrome asks you to give the extension access to it. The extension uses that access for one thing: to show its warning page instead of the site. It does not read or change that site's pages, and the list stays in your browser.
The pages it changes
On DAZN and on the CBS Sports NFL scoreboard, the extension hides things on the page, such as scores and key moments. It looks at the page only to find what to hide. Nothing from those pages is sent anywhere, except DAZN's id for the game you are watching, as described above.
Other services
- Vercel hosts the server, and Neon is its database, both in the United States.
- ESPN: the team logos on the ratings page load straight from ESPN's image server, so your browser asks ESPN for them, as it would on ESPN's own site.
- PayPal and the cryptocurrency addresses on the support page are only used if you choose to donate; PayPal's own privacy policy applies there.
What it never does
- collect your browsing history
- use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind
- sell or give your data to anyone, or use it for anything but the features above
Your rights
You can ask what feedback of yours is stored, and have it corrected or deleted, by writing to spoiler-free-football@philiprichter.com. Everything kept in your browser goes when you remove the extension. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
